Monday Morning...

Family portrait, 8 x 10 oil on canvas
Well, it has been awhile since I posted a painting!!!
Winter classes stopped two weeks ago, I was really sick with diverticulitus and we had out of town guests...excuses, excuses....

Now that the weather has started turning, and we are finally entering springtime, I really want to start to painting "plein air", which translates to painting outdoors or on location. One of my favorite spots is Meadowlark Garden, here in Vienna, VA. Bill and I went walking to look at the winter landscape one more time before everything starts to green up and bloom. I love how the winter grass takes on a orange/yellow glow near sunset. Stuck against the blue water of the pond makes for a dramatic landscape. I loved how the chairs were placed...like a family...enjoying the view.

I have entered this painting into the Daily Paintworks Challenge for Japan Relief. auction on Daily Paintworks website. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. There are hundreds of paintings being auctioned for the cause...give it a look!
